I am so happy that Americans finally wised up and chose change over the same shit that has not been working for 8 years.
Obama is our president in an amazing landslide.
Good job on the Californians.
However I am embarrassed to be a Californian today.
California voters approved Prop 8 52% to 48% according to the LA Times.
We as a state have just taken 15 steps backwards.
Banning gay marriage in California is a HUGE mistake.
How does a gay marriage effect anyone except those who are in it?
For those of you who voted yes on Prop 8, I hope I do not know any of you.
I cannot help but feel this Prop would not have passed if more people would have educated themselves before enter the polling place.
It has nothing to do with gay marriage being taught in schools. It was about weather California would recognize a marriage between gays.
Even if young kids learn about gays what is the harm.
If we as a state and a country do not talk about gays they will not disappear, they are here to stay.
It is their right to marry whom ever they love.
If we limit who can get married in California, perhaps we need to also regulate how long a couple has been together before they marry.
California has one of the highest divorce rates in the country.
What makes people believe that a man and a woman can be more successful at marriage than a man and a man or a woman and a woman?
I cannot grasp how we can elect Barak Obama as our President and pass Prop 8 at the same time.
