I was browsing the internet looking for this documentary I saw on MSNBC on Tattoos. I could not find the clip I wanted for my post. What I did find was a vivid example of how the underage and the financially challenged obtain their awful tattoos. It was so awful I could not even watch the entire four minute clip, or turn it down as a blog.
If you get tattooed while drunk and at a house party you cannot possibly appreciate the art of tattooing nor the history behind it. These people simply got drunk and had a friend tattoo them in a living room. I do understand most tattoo artist make their living off of drunk people who walk into their shops. I find that to be different situation because those people still have to pay an actual artist and still receive the correct care instructions. I believe these people in give all tattooed people a bad name. Most of us are not reckless and disrespectful, we take time to carefully plan our tattoos and research our artist.
Most important, why were none of these freshly done tattoos covered? Anyone who has even received a proper tattoo knows that it is covered with in minutes of being complete. Not left out in the open for drunk people to video tape. Moreover, I have never met a heavily tattooed person who refereed to a tattoo as a “tat.” The word tat is just simply trashy. It it used by wanna be tattoo enthusiast.
