For the past couple of years I have been absolutely obsessed with watching Whale Wars. I was first attracted to the series because I love animals and was in aw of the extent the volunteers are willing to go. I remained glued to my television every Friday evening because the show was about more than seventy volunteers living on ships in the Arctic ocean. It became about knowledge. Knowledge about the amount of profit the Japanese make off of the whales, knowledge about the Japanese whaler’s inability to take responsibility for their actions. Most importantly, knowledge about an issue that I had never thought or heard about, whales dying for profit. This series sparked my interest to learn more about the world I live in.

The success of Whale Wars brought to light another horrible tradition in parts of Japan, the annual killing of dolphins. Sunday August 29th Animal Planet aired the 2009 documentary entitled, The Cove. The Cove, is an amazing documentary that captures the horrible deaths of thousands of dolphins every year off the coast of Taji Japan. It also shows one man’s incredible dedication to right a wrong he feels responsible for. Ric O’Barry was the primary trainer and actor in the 1960′s telivision series Flipper. If you have not heard of or watched this documentary, it will change your life.

Starting Friday September 3rd, Animal Planet will air the series premiere of Blood Dolphins. The series films Ric O’Barry and his quest to stop dolphin slaughter around the world.

I am writing this post to share a little of what I have learned; ignorance is not bliss. Just as a majority of Japan is unaware of the dolphin slaughter taking place I believe most of America is unaware of what happens in our country as well. I do not believe all Japanese people are evil, I believe a select few have been allowed to make awful choices.

Educate yourself about where your food comes from. An amazingly education source is Food Inc. However, there are issues even Food Inc does not address. For example, longline fishing in America.

Our need for excess and demand for immediate results is killing our country and our world. This is bigger than global warming and driving a hybrid. These issues deserve every individual’s attention if there is any hope for our generations grandchildren to survive. I know I do not have the answer, I am not even certain there are an answers to the problems that plague our world. What I do know is that change cannot happen without education.

I watched this movie the other night and I certainly enjoyed it.
I was a little unsure, because there are so many documentaries out there. It seems like anyone who has money believes they can make a good documentary. Though Bill Maher did a wonderful job.
It does not matter if you are religious or not, I fully believe everyone should see this film.
It is an eye opening experience that might make you question your beliefs.

I for one stopped believing a long time ago.
The idea of putting so much time and effort into something I cannot see just seems ridiculous.
I do not criticize those who believe, I do think that faith has powerful effects on some people.
However I just do not see how otherwise intelligent people can be so ignorant.
Example; seeing the Virgin Mary on a piece of bread. I mean really?!

Furthermore, with all the science we have today people still believe Jesus was born to a virgin?
I do not see that happening unless they had turkey basters back in the day.
Most importantly, I do not understand why all the religions contradict each other. If we all believe in God and he is good, why would he make some many different religions that spark such hatred?

I simply do not believe in a God because of all the suffering in the world. I cannot see how any being would purposefully allow children to starve, innocent men and women to die in an unjust war.
It makes no sense to me.

I do not want to engage in a religious debate.

I am simply saying this film is really wonderful and I believe everyone could learn a little from it, be it more about other religions or facts about your own. Bill Maher interviews everyone from politicians to religious leaders.

I saw a screening of Bruno tonight!

Easily the best movie of the year!
Its a must see, you wont stop laughing.

I seriously think Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius!

Thats right guys and gals, Christian Bale has signed a contract as John Conner in a new Terminator movie coming out!

I think it will be hard to go back to the TV show after this movie!

I thought this movie had the potential to be a good one.
However I was sorely disappointed this morning.
Keanu Reeves is nothing special, in fact I believe the movie could have been better without him. I have never thought of him as a great actor and this film confirmed my belief.
Kathy Bates as the secretary of defense was a huge joke. What was she defending her donuts? Seriously?! There are way better and more believable actresses out there to play that part. Unless none of Hollywood’s A listers wanted the part.
Te best part of the movie I thought was seeing Robert Knepper! He’s a great and diverse actor whom I always enjoy watching.

To sum it up; no one in my group of four thought it was an amazing movie. The general theme everyone took away was recycle or die.

All in all I would wait for it on HBO its not worth the money.
Because if you have seen the previews, you have pretty much seen the entire movie.
I do however give props to the marketing people for making it look about a million times better than it actually was.

Went and saw Righteous Kill Friday.
It wasnt a horrible movie, not as good as I had expected.
I found it to be a little predictable.
However my boyfriend liked it more than he thought he would and didnt think it was predicable at all.

All in all I recommend checking it out if you have a few hours to spear.
It is still packed with great acting and a suspenseful plot.

I saw this last week when it came out.
It is actually a good, entertaining movie.
The twist was completely obvious and the plot didnt explain much.
However it kept my attention.

I dont recommend wasting $12 to go see it, but if you are bored its something to do.

Sex and the City London Premiere

Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays columnist Carrie Bradshaw, stole the show with her soaring Philip Treacy hat.

The ladies looked great on the red carpet, like always.
The anticipation of the wonderful shoes that are going to be in this movie is killing me!
I cannot wait to see Carie’s funky but always sexy style!

OOh fashion, shoes, and sex what more do women need!

The count down is on ladies!

So I finally watched this AMAZING movie on DVD this morning.
I feel in LOVE with it.

I was laughing and crying all at the same time.

There has not been a movie this well done in years.

Hillary Swank does an amazing job, you cant help but fall in love with her!

Its a def. must see folks!

So far all we know about this Disney Movie is “While on vacation in Mexico, Chloe, a ritzy Beverly Hills chihuahua, finds herself lost and in need of assistance in order to get back home.”

Well what ever the plot, any cute little dog will interest me and any girl out there!
